Ferraton La Tournée Rouge 2019

Vin de France

Perhaps you've enjoyed a Hermitage or Condrieu from this very smart northern Rhône address? Chapoutier owned Ferraton is also behind this extremely well priced, deliciously drinkable red. Lovely berry fruit, with hints of herbs, spice and liquorice.

This wine may have humble 'Vin de France' on the label, but it's from one of the top names in the northern Rhône. Michel Chapoutier is renowned worldwide for his organic and biodynamic wines, as well as being the first to do braile labels. In 1998, he started working with Domaine Ferraton, itself a highly reputed family estate of 70 years standing. With Chapoutier input, quality has stepped up even higher, plus oenologist Damien Brisset has also joined the team. The result is delicious, impressive wines and, in the case of the La Tournée range, excellent value. Using classic Rhône grapes Syrah and Grenache, the wine is all fruit, no oak, smooth and supple. Delicious on its own, but even better at a bbq or with vegetable lasagne or chicken.

"Exciting new release from this top northern Rhône estate. Fine winemaking and truly affordable" Jennie Perry
