Well positioned next to Mouton Rothschild and Pontet-Canet, Château Pédesclaux is a very beautiful estate. It was founded in 1810 by Urbain Pédesclaux, but has been brought smartly into the 21st century by Jacky and Françoise Lorenzetti when they took ownership in 2009. The architecture by Jean Wilmotte is breathtaking, seamlessly blending modern with the 19th century buildings. The new winery is all gravity fed and the smart barrel hall humidity and temperature controlled. Fleur de Pédesclaux is their second wine, made from mostly Merlot, grown on gravel over clay limestone, and aged in cask for 16 months. The 2014 vintage is a delight – a particularly warm September ensured appealing ripe fruit that has gone the distance. Drinking well.

"Attractive second wine of this magnificent Pauillac estate, with ripe, rounded Merlot appeal" Jennie Perry
