Fleurie Réserve Domaine de Leyre-Loup 2014

Fleurie AOC

50-year-old vines, fine granite soils, a 5-star vintage and a superb quality, sustainable estate - these are the credentials for this fine Fleurie. It's rare to find one with six years' age. Silky, dark cherry fruit with mellow earthy complexity.

Since 1993, Jacques and Christophe Lanson have run the small family domaine. They are fully signed up to the sustainable practices of Terra Vitis and HVE and by respecting nature, believe they get the very most from their vineyards. For this superb Fleurie Réserve, the grapes are sourced from half-century-old vines, planted on Poncié's south-facing granitic slopes or Les Combes' poor, sandy soils. These ensure even smaller yields than usual (30 hl/ha) and amazing concentration. The brothers do a mixture of whole cluster and destalked berries fermentation to ensure intense fruitiness, as well as the depth and structure that enable their fine wines to age. Still fresh, the wine has mellow fruit complexity – enjoy with sea bass or chicken.

"Rare opportunity to enjoy a Fleurie with such age. Silky red fruits and earthy maturity" Samuel Fishlock
