Cuvée Charrette 2014

Côtes Catalanes IGP

This superb find comes from a good friend in Roussillon's Maury, one of the hottest grape growing regions in all France. Here, you’ll find reds of the most intense concentration. After six year’s ageing, this has mellowed into fabulous complexity.

Sometimes it pays to keep an ear close to the ground. Which is how our buyer for southern France Mark Hoddy bagged this sumptuous ‘treat yourself’ red exclusively for our customers. Mark came across Cuvée Charrette when he was paying a visit to good friend and top winemaker Jean-Louis, who owns prime vineyards in Maury – one of France’s sunniest regions. When it was lunch time, Jean-Louis poured out something special from his private cellar. So velvety and mouthfilling, with the plushest ripe dark fruits enriched by layers of warming spice. Mark was certain you’d love it, so struck a deal with Jean-Louis for every case of Cuvée Charrette. For a red this delicious, aged to perfection too, it's a steal. Enjoy with hearty casseroles.

"Such a great find! Proves once again if you want reds with character, head to southern France" Mark Hoddy
