Grattamacco was one of the first estates to create ‘Super Tuscan’ wines in the late 1970s. Yet there’s more to the winery than groundbreaking reds. The celebrated Bolgheri appellation in which the 50-hectare property lies has sloping vineyards where cooling sea breezes and chalky clay soil provide near-perfect growing conditions for the Vermentino grape. It yields wines such as this that exhibit an extraordinary purity of fruit, with an added freshness from organic production methods. It's aromatic (think citrus and Alpine flowers), with vibrant fruit and hints of creamy spice from part ageing in barrel and frequent stirring of the lees. An exceptionally elegant, well-structured, long-flavoured white to accompany the finest seafood.
