Kevin Judd first helped to make New Zealand’s iconic Cloudy Bay famous with his great winemaking skills. Then he decided to start up on his own and Greywacke was born. This is his superb, 96-pt, oak-aged Pinot Noir - all red fruit and floral spice.

Greywacke was founded in 2009 by Kevin Judd – a pioneer of New Zealand’s wine industry. It's named after the soil of his first vineyard, which was littered with the local greywacke stones. Kevin works with independent, family growers with mature vineyards to ensure highest quality fruit, then leases a small part of his friends’ Dog Point winery to craft them. As you’d expect of Marlborough, he majors on Sauvignon and Pinot Noir. For this pretty red, Kevin selected grapes largely from the Yarrum vineyard in Southern Valleys, ageing the wine in French oak barrels for 11 months to gather a panoply of complexity. Fragrant with cedar-like spice and beautiful silky fruit, it's a pleasurable glassful on its own or with duck or mushroom risotto.
