Kevin Judd first helped make New Zealand’s iconic Cloudy Bay famous with his terrific winemaking skills. He then went out on his own and Greywacke was born. Reaching high scores every vintage, this wild yeast Sauvignon is a delicious revelation.

Greywacke was founded in 2009 by Kevin Judd – a pioneer of New Zealand’s wine industry. The wines are named after the soil of his first vineyard, which was littered with the prized, local greywacke stones. Kevin works with top-quality, independent growers with mature vineyards to ensure the highest quality fruit every vintage,then leases a small part of his friends’ Dog Point winery to craft the wines. He majors on Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, but also does a little Burgundy-style Chardonnay. Hand-picked grapes, wild yeasts, vinified in older oak barriques, with some cuvées undergoing 'malo' (a fermentation that lends a more creamy feel) and all left to age on lees, this white is rich, complex and beautifully balanced. One of NZ's best.
