Halfway Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Western Cape

Dazzling fresh Cape Sauvignon from a highly awarded family property. South Africa has gained a terrific reputation for its super zingy Sauvignons and Halfway is a clear indication why. It sings out with bright tropical fruit and a crisp elegance.

The vineyards of this excellent estate have been in the family for generations, but the modern cellar is new, winning double Gold in the first vintage. It lies in the Breede River Valley, a region renowned not only for fruity wines, but also for raising champion horses. In fact, the family have specialised in both for years. Halfway is a super-zingy Sauvignon that commemorates a split in the family. One brother wanted to breed horses, the other grow vines. To establish the estate’s halfway point they each rode to the opposite perimeter, then galloped as fast as they could. Their meeting point became the dividing line. No hard feelings though and today’s owners are keen equestrians still. This crisp white is ideal solo or with spicy dishes.

"Very nice and lemony. A lovely moreish wine, needs to be quaffed, would be my number one white" Online Review
