From 2019's UK Winery of the Year, this is a stunning, Brut Reserve from Henry Laithwaite's Marlow estate. The fizz is based on the 2017 vintage, using Champagne's classic grapes and the traditional method to make a rich, biscuity, creamy peach fizz.

As Decanter claimed, “There is now widespread consensus that English sparkling wine is a world-class product.” As usual, the Laithwaite family is leading the way, firstly with Barbara’s award-winning Wyfold and now with Henry’s Harrow & Hope. Henry cut his winemaking teeth in Bordeaux and Australia, but in 2010 he and his wife, Kaye, returned to England and hatched a plan. They planted a 6.2 hectare vineyard on a chalky gravel slope in Marlow with Chardonnay and both Pinots, then built a new winery in 2013. Since then, they've won some impressive awards, including many Golds and Trophies too. Using the same classic varieties and method as Champagne, with a portion of oak-aged reserve wine, this Brut Reserve has impressive toasty complexity.
