Chianti fans will love this silky Sangiovese, a previous vintage of which was awarded Tre Bicchieri, Italy’s highest honour. It’s from a family estate, Poderi dal Nespoli, which received significant investment a few years ago. The result was a new, beautifully designed, environmentally aware cellar and a step up in wine quality that was already considerable. The estate lies in Romagna’s Rubicone region, across the Apennines from Tuscany’s Chianti, and also an excellent red wine area. The family make a standard Sangiovese, but this Riserva uses grapes from older vines and is aged for a year in barrel for extra complexity and intensity. Rich and round, it's full of ripe cherry fruit and tobacco spice. Enjoy with roast pork or veggie kebabs.
