Pouilly-Fumé is one of the Loire's most highly regarded white wines, rivalled only by those of its neighbour, Sancerre. Both are purely focused on Sauvignon Blanc, but the limestone, marl clay and flint of Pouilly brings a classic gunflint aroma to its finest wines. As Decanter wrote, “Loire wines are so full of joy and character, and their value solidifies their status as the most accessible fine wines”. Jérôme Pabiot is a fifth-generation winemaker, combining sustainable, modern techniques with the traditions of his forebears. His Gold-winning 2020 bears the classic, smoky gunflint aroma of the finest Pouilly Fumé, grown on Les Caillottes (pebbles) while fermentation with wild yeast and ageing on its fine lees adds complexity and texture.
