Pouilly Fumé is one of the finest expressions of Sauvignon Blanc. The best offer pure fruit, gunsmoke and that mineral taste of its terroir. All the more so from 40 year old vines and made by the skilled hand of sixth generation Patrice Bailly.
If you love French Sauvignon, then you must try the wines of Pouilly Fumé. The appellation is one one of the Loire's most revered and lies on the easternmost point of the region, in the Central Vineyards. Its vines stretch over 1,200 hectares, about half the size of Sancerre's, next door, making wines that offer a touch more gunsmoke and a little more roundness than its neighbour. Jean Pierre Bailly is a first class example. Patrice is the sixth generation and took over the estate in 2000. He has 17 hectares of Sauvignon planted in some of the finest sites, all on superb kimmeridgean soils, typical of the region. Carefully fermented, the wine is aged on its lees for four months to lend a creamy texture. A fine choice with seafood.
"For lovers of fine French Sauvignon Blanc, this Pouilly Fumé is a real stand out"
