Germany remains the best producer of Riesling, and, with 13 different wine regions, the grape makes a great variety of styles. Here you have a classic dry Riesling of outstanding quality from the historic Rheinhessen. It’s made by brothers Peter and Fritz May, seventh generation winemakers at the Karl May estate. Both have studied oenology at university and travelled widely – Peter having worked at Framingham in New Zealand and Fritz at Riesling specialist Grosset in Australia and at Preisinger in Austria. The two have a modern approach to winemaking, with eco-friendly methods in the vineyard and a non-interventional approach in the cellar. This is reflected in the pure, vibrant fruit and finesse of the wine. A delicious match with seafood.
