Aligoté used to be regarded as Chardonnay's poorer cousin, but today some famous Burgundy names are making top wine from it. In fact, it's the style Burgundians love to drink. With warmer temperatures, the grape ripens better, retaining intense freshness, but with rounder peach notes too. L'Etrangère is made in Côte Chalonnaise under the careful gaze of Alain Pierre. Alain is from a long line of Burgundian winegrowers who have been in the region since 1620. He decided to follow in their footsteps, studying, then working at several renowned estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Bordeaux before his return to the family fold. This tasty Aligoté offers nectarine, pear and white blossom notes. With a gentle creaminess it’s superb solo or with fish.
