Le Masque Chenin Blanc 2019

Vin de France

Chenin Blanc is well known in the Loire, but just taste how good it is grown in the high hills of the Languedoc’s Limoux region. A cool climate ensures slow ripening to bring out the intense citrus and ripe pear fruit with a crisp edge of minerality.

Chenin Blanc is a neglected star grape that shines not only in the Loire, but also in the high hills of Limoux. There you'll find grower Bruno Bouché tending his extensive patchwork of vineyards, with his wife and three sons. The family is from Champagne, they still have 3 hectares there, but moved to the Languedoc in 1989 to carry on make award winning sparkling wines, but that were more affordable. The grape quality from his beautifully tended vineyards is superb, which is why Chai winemaker Mark every year reserves his Chenin. Vinified in a concrete egg shaped fermenter, that keeps the lees sediment in continuous motion, the wine has a creamy richness balanced by intense lemony zip. Enjoy Le Masque on its own or with seafood or chicken.
