Le Serret 2020

Côtes du Vivarais AOP

Everyone knows Côtes du Rhône, but the Côtes du Vivarais (still part of the Rhône) is an insider's secret. As the name suggests, its wines have a delicious vivacity, coupled here with creamy, ripe apricot and honeyed fruit, all from native varieties.

30 years ago, we stumbled across the little village of Orgnac in the Rhône's Côtes du Vivarais. We employed the help of Flying Winemakers, who crafted us some terrific wines that made the area famous. It's part of the Ardèche, where the river of the same name carves spectacularly deep gorges through the limestone - the Plateau des Gras. The wines became so popular that in 1999 it was granted its own appellation and the big players of the Rhône flocked in to grab a part of the action. Our buyer, Mark, has been back and rekindled our special friendship with the cellar and discovered this delicious white. Grenache Blanc, Roussanne and Marsanne, it has creamy, ripe, apricot fruit cut through by stony freshness. Great solo or with chicken.
