Having studied oenology at Beaune and Dijon, Bertrand Minchin acquired his first vineyards in the village of Morogues over 20 years ago, planting them with 8 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc and 7 of Pinot Noir. Today, his reputation for quality has made him one of the most successful estates in the region and he now owns 17 hectares in Menetou-Salon and a further 14 hectares in Valençay. Bertrand’s estate is at the cutting edge, making Pinot Noirs and Sauvignons to match the finest from any producer anywhere in the LoireThe Morogues village has limestone soils and is where you’ll find the best examples of Menetou-Salon, with quality to rival nearby Sancerre With the benefit of lees ageing, this shows impressive concentration and great length. Ripe fruit with a touch of fresh pineapple, citrus fruits and good concentration. Rich and complex with mineral nuances and a long finish. Delicious with oysters or goat’s cheese.
