With 7 Trophies and 9 Golds under its belt, you could say that this dry Aussie Riesling is a bit of a superstar. It's from an iconic century-old winery in Clare Valley, top region for this grape. The 2008 is still brimful with racy lime minerality.

Leasingham is one of the great legands of Australian wine. They were founded in 1893, but only started planting Riesling in the Clare Valley after WW2. That wasn't the norm back then - red grapes such as Cabernet and Shiraz were usual. Grapes for the Leasingham Classic are nearly all from a one-hectare parcel in this premium, cooler climate region, all of it planted on red loam over slate. This unique soil brings out the purity and freshness in the wine which, judging by this 2008's array of awards and youthful character, ensure they age well. It was a top vintage too. Showing more complexity now but still very fresh, the 2008 white has pure lime, green apple fruit and minerality, with honeyed notes stealing in. A top partner with seafood.

"Concentrated lime with hints of lemon blossom, appealing spicy, zesty and citrus flavours" Leasingham Winemaker
