Lo Scultore Pinot Grigio 2021

We first fell in love with crisp, citrusy Pinot Grigio from northern Italy, where some of the greatest whites can still be found. This is a new discovery from Gianni Tessari in the Berici hills, close to Vicenza, with delicate pear and lemon fruit.

Gianni Tessari is something of a visionary. He can look out over his vines and, like a sculptor, perusing his block, can see the latent potential beneath. Hence the wine's name. Gianni is well trained! He was born into a family of wine growers and worked in the family business for many years. In 2013, he decided it was time to strike out on his own. He set up a new cellar near Verona, with vineyards in Monte Lessini, Colli Berici and Soave. This he runs with his wife, Anna, and his eldest daughter, Valeria. Lo Scultore is pure Pinot Grigio from the Berici hills, all handpicked. It's a delicate white, with pear and apple notes and bright lemony zip. Great on its own or with lighter dishes of quinoa salad, risotto or grilled white fish.

"A great-tasting Pinot Grigio, crisp but characterful in a delicate style" Leonardo Bassano
