Such has been the demand for Chianti over the last half century, the region has expanded way beyond its original centre. This seminal zone is now called Chianti Classico and here the finest wines are made. The Taddei family’s medium sized fattoria (wine estate, not factory!) makes wine from their own 28 hectares of Sangiovese vines. All bottles proudly bear the Gallo Nero (black rooster) symbol unique to wines from the Classico zone. This is the second vintage to gain 97 points from Luca Maroni, and it won the second highest score! After a year in French oak and time in bottle, the wine is now ready. Complex notes of ripe berries and spice with a fresh finish make it ideal with classic Italian cuisine such as wild mushroom risotto or veal.

"Rare and harmonious. Spicy blackberry jam. Absolutely among the best Chianti Classico" Luca Maroni
