Luigi Arnulfo was considered a great pioneer of his day in producing great Barolo wines. He founded the Costa di Bussia winery in 1874 and today this legacy is continued by the Sartirano family. Nearly every year, they produce a Barolo dedicated to the name of the founder; there's even a museum devoted to his work. They take the Nebbiolo for this special wine all from their most prized Bussia hill vineyards, the marl and clay soils of which produce wines with elegance, finesse and the ability to age. 2016 was one of the very finest vintages this century, so the wine, already awarded 95 Suckling points, promises even more. Deep cherry, tobacco, herbs and flowers with well-integrated tannins. Ideally cellar a year or so; decant early.

"Ripe red berries with notes of lavender, violets, heather and kumquat. Shows immense promise" James Suckling
