It's a treat to find a Médoc from the 2015 vintage, but after a difficult year, some châteaux are digging deep to give up some of their best reserves. There is much praise for the vintage: critic James Suckling wrote, "2015 is indeed a fantastic year, producing rich and opulent reds with ripe and velvety tannins", while Wine Spectator called it, "easily the best vintage since 2010". This is a fine, classic Médoc, from an outstanding winemaker, who has worked for many of the top properties in the Haut Médoc. The wine beautifully expresses the terroir of the region. With dense cassis and blueberry with cedar spice and five years' maturity, this Bordeaux is showing very well. Preferably decant an hour beforehand and serve with roast meats.
