Heading up the case is Château Bernot from brothers’ Bruno and Pierre-Joel Bernard, whose family have run this property since the 16th century. The Ballande family’s superb Château Pey de Faure is a Merlot-rich blend with smooth berry fruits and background spice. Next is bestselling Château Saint-Paulin, made by 6th generation vigneron Jacqueline Auduteau and her son Thierry. And closing the case is bramble-rich Château Tour Haut Labrit from Claude Fontaneau’s estate, just across the river from Saint-Émilion.
