When The Times wrote “Navarra produces wines in many cases that are superior to its more famous neighbour”, it was estates like Marqués de Butrago they had in mind. It’s owned by the Manzanos family, who purchased the land back in 1937 from a local marqués, when demand for Spain’s delicious reds was higher than ever. The family had already made a name for themselves in Rioja, but were eager to expand into nearby Navarra. The perfect vineyard conditions, very similar to Rioja’s, promised reds of fine quality. You'll taste that in this Reserva, now with nine years age. With two years in barrel, the rest in bottle, this is a complex, layered and long flavoured red, with lovely intensity of fruit. Savour alongside roast meats or tapas.
