Barolo is undisputedly one of Italy's greatest red wines. Franco Massolino's Barolo uses nearly all Serralunga d’Alba grapes, where chalky marl soil produces some of the finest Nebbiolo fruit and longest-lived Barolo. The wine was aged in a mix of large and smaller barrels to add layers of oak spice to the wine’s generous fruit, but mostly to give it time to gain complexity. Wine Enthusiast praised its "full-bodied and delicious, structured palate" calling it "an incredible performance for what is the firm's entry-level Barolo." Awarded a near perfect 95-points, it's a fine food wine. Decant well in advance and serve with roast red meats, game casserole or porcini mushroom risotto. It'll cellar for years if you have the patience to wait!
