Named after Andrew McPherson’s entrepreneurial father Jock, this cracking Cabernet Sauvignon is bursting with dark spicy cassis. Andrew travelled the world designing wineries for other people before returning to Australia and establishing his own vineyards in Victoria, and building a cellar there in the Goulburn Valley. That’s where his team, headed up now by Joanna Nash, alongside Andrew, made this deliciously fruity red. It uses small clusters of richly concentrated grapes sourced from the sunny vineyards around Mildura. This is a weighty wine with lots of dense blackcurrant flavour flattered by spicy oak. A great winter warmer, it’s tasty with rare steak, lasagne or rich casseroles. In summer, it makes a great choice for a barbecue.
