Château Bernot Bordeaux Rouge 2017

Bordeaux AOC

Gold-medal-winning Château Bernot is everything you'd expect from a château that's been making wine since the 16th century. It's no wonder it's one of our most popular clarets. This 2017 vintage is full of red fruits and delicious drinkability.

The Bernard family have owned Château Bernot, in the ancient village of Saint Martin du Puy, since the 16th century. It’s been run by brothers Bruno and Pierre-Joel since 1981 and these days they’re returning to organic methods of farming. In the cellar, traditional winemaking techniques and modern equipment combine to produce a seamless blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. The wine has a great depth of flavour laced with dark plum, spice and cassis aromas. And thanks to the estate’s rocky subsoil, there’s also a fresh, mineral character that makes this claret a superb choice for rich lamb or duck. No need to cellar this 2017 - it's great to drink now but will take on further complexity over the next year or so.
