Fans of fine Aussie Sauvignon take note. Even further south than Margaret River in Western Australia, close to the Southern Ocean, sits the tiny, high quality Rockcliffe winery. It lies in Denmark, in the belly of the Great Southern, a region “long overshadowed by more renowned Margaret River. But risk-taking vintners are giving wine lovers a new reason to look at this corner of Australia” (Wine Enthusiast). The winery is named after the limestone rock that towers above the bay and underpins all Rockcliffe's vineyards. This soil and great winemaking help to make this one of the state's raciest whites. With an elegant gooseberry and guava bouquet and herbal complexity, it's truly refreshing. Ideal, unsurprisingly, with all sorts of seafood.
