Sablet is one of the cru villages of the southern Rhône that's permitted to put its name on the label. The wines are so good, it's only surprising Sablet doesn't have an appellation in its own right. This luscious, Grenache based red comes from a small domaine run by two brothers – Frédéric and Boris Roux – whose family has been making wine in the region for generations. They have been in charge since 2016 and the wines from the estate sing with ripe fruit and authenticity. The domaine lies in the foothills of the impressive Dentelles de Montmirail, a landmark of the southern Rhône. Two thirds Grenache, a third Syrah and a smidgeon of Mourvèdre, make for a delicious, rich, warm fruit red, rippled through by flavours of the herbal garrigue.
