Montepeloso A Quo 2017

Toscana Rosso IGT

Sensational 93-point Tuscan red from coastal Maremma and one of its most exciting estates. Using largely Montepulciano, Sangiovese and Cabernet from younger vines, aged in barrel, it is full of ripe berries, sandalwood and fresh herbs. Fine and long.

James Suckling wrote, "Montepeloso is one of the emerging superstars on the Tuscan Coast". Since 1999 Fabio Chiarelotto has been at the helm. A perfectionist in both the vineyard and the cellar, he has worked to replant the vineyards with the finest clones, reduce yields and introduce top winemaking practices, all in the name of expressing the true potential of the estate's terroir. In 2007 Silvio Denz, owner of a handful of top Bordeaux estates in Saint Emilion and Sauternes, invested in the estate and further boosted quality. Their winemaker is Fabrio Moltard, who has worked with the renowned Angelo Gaja. Using a unique grape blend from young vines and aged 15 months in barrel (15% new), the wine is luscious, rich and fruit filled.
