Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon is the envy of the wine world, and for the last 25 years Montes Alpha has been Chile’s benchmark. Indeed, in the late 1990s the first vintage Cabernet was named by Wine magazine as one of the world’s best 10 year old wines. It was the vision of Aurelio Montes, Douglas Murray, Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand, four dedicated wine professionals who recognised Chile’s potential as a world class producer. They went about sourcing the finest hand harvested fruit, vinifying it in their state of the art cellar and treating it to a year in fine French oak. 29 years on, the approach remains the same, although they now source the fruit from their own, sustainably grown vineyards. Decant early and serve with fine roast beef.
