Bodegas Naia is one of Rueda’s star wineries. Here in La Seca (the region's outstanding ‘cru') winemaker Eulogio Calleja goes above and beyond to craft exceptional wines. While most modern Rueda favour an aromatic, super-fresh style (think Sauvignon Blanc), Eulogio shows the grape can do so much more. Naiades 2016 is produced from plots of ancient vines (many well over 100 years old), then fermented in new French oak for 8 months. The result is a vibrant mix of ripe fruit and richness. It's stunning. In fact it's one of the most highly awarded wines from Rueda. (But this is the new vintage, only just released into the market, so it doesn't have its medals yet). A white with real complexity, it pairs perfectly with white meats and risotto.
