Da Maggio is a bright, modern style of Chardonnay. It has an appetising balance of varietal freshness and ripeness, and a subtle hint of creaminess from 5 months maturation in French oak barriques. It’s from Romagna, across the Appenines from Tuscany, close to the cooling Adriatic coast. There lies Poderi dal Nespoli, a modern, environmentally conscious winery in the beautiful Bidente Valley. This estate was founded in 1929 by Attilio Ravaioli, and the fourth generation are now at the helm. The cellar itself is an impressive, modern structure, designed to be gentle on the environment, too. As well as using cutting-edge technology, they also employ traditions passed down through the generations. Serve solo, or with seafood or chicken dishes.
