Named after the river that Julius Caesar famously crossed in 49 BC, the Rubicone IGT lies in the hills of Romagna encompassing the areas of Forli, Ravenna and Rimini, and is fast gathering a reputation for sumptuous Sangiovese. This delightful red blend is from a family property owned by Fabio and Celita Ravaioli, comprising beautiful vineyards and a modern, well equipped cellar. The head winemaker, Valerio, is a cousin of Fabio and also the official wild boar hunter of the estate! For several years now, winemaking has benefited from the experience of Giuseppe Caviola, a consultant from Piedmont, who has taken the family’s wines to new levels of quality. Full of cherry fruit with a fresh tang, Nespolino is heavenly with rich pasta dishes.
