The Carnuntum region is a historic region in Niederosterreich close to the River Danube. The rich, fertile soils, warm Pannonian climate and the influence of the River Danube and Lake Neusiedl provide the ideal growing conditions for Zwigelt, producing modern and elegant reds Zweigelt was created in 1922 and is a crossing of Saint-Laurent and Blaufrankisch. It has proven to be a very successful crossing and has helped spread the popularity of Austrian wines across the worldThe grapes are harvested by hand and the wine is aged for 10 months in small French oak barrelsPerfect paired with roast beef, lamb or a selection of cheeses. Dark ruby-garnet red with youthful red cherry and juicy berries on the nose. Well-balanced and fresh with soft tannins.
