Old Malt Cask Glenburgie 19-Year-Old 1995 Whisky (70cl) NV

Speyside

For 19 years this glorious Speyside malt has been resting in hogshead and absorbing lots of amazing layers of flavours. You rarely see a single malt from Glenburgie, let alone with this age. Fruity, spicy, long and complex. Worth taking time over.

This rare, independently bottled, cask strength whisky is the craftsmanship of the Glenburgie distillery, sited just outside Forres in the lush Speyside countryside. And if you haven’t heard of Glenburgie, this is because most of their whisky goes to making Ballantine’s Reserve, the world’s second favourite blended whisky. The distillery’s owners rarely bottle a single malt and those they do are only available in their visitors' centre, so seeing a Glenburgie Single Malt is something akin to spotting the Loch Ness Monster. And that’s a crying shame because this complex, balanced malt is a masterclass in mellow, nuanced subtlety. Apple, raspberry, orange, spice and black tea, with a long, spicy, oak finish. Definitely worth savouring.
