Palacio de Menade 2020

Castilla y Leon VdT

If you’re a fan of the increasingly brilliant, Sauvignon-like whites of northwest Spain, you’ll adore this gem from Castilla y León. It's made nearly all from local hero Verdejo, with a touch of Sauvignon and Viura, all grassy fresh and lemony.

As The Guardian has noted, “Palacio de Menade has a fine, cool vibrancy that will appeal to those who relish Sancerre.” You see, just like that famous area of the Loire, Castilla y León has fine chalky soils, ideal for aromatic whites. Although grown here and adored locally for 1,000 years, Verdejo is only now coming to the fore internationally. It's thanks in part to local supremos like the Sanz family. They combine six generations of tradition with state of the art technology to produce Palacio’s breezy, citrus and apricot freshness. Mostly bright Verdejo, with a little Viura (the primary grape for white Rioja), and a splash of Sauvignon for good measure, it's delicious crisp and the perfect pairing with fresh seafood, paella or canapés.

"Refreshing. Very lemony with just that hint of peach and a cool mineral finish" 5-Star Online Review
