Spain’s old bush vines should be regarded as national treasure – they don’t produce many grapes, but what they do has really concentrated flavour and richness. And it's that old-vine magic that shines in this smooth red. It’s named after a festival that takes place in San Roque each year, when locals dress in colours representing their tribe or club (peña). A sea of purple represents the growers, vineyard workers and winemakers, all celebrating the grape they call their own – Garnacha. Norrel Robertson MW (known locally as El Escocés Volante or ‘the Flying Scotsman’) is the winemaker for this wine and a huge fan of Garnacha. Enjoy this full, smooth red with lamb cutlets (chuletillas) or a sausage casserole and become the newest Peña member!
