Portuga is made by Casa Santos Lima, a grand Portuguese estate that has been in the same family since the late 19th century. Head winemaker is Diogo Sepúlveda who learned his craft at iconic estates in Pomerol and the Napa Valley.
Casa Santos Lima is a beautiful estate of vine-clad slopes that soak up the sunshine all day long
It’s the kind of quality-focussed producer that led Wine Spectator to call Portugal “the most exciting wine place on the planet”
The vineyards are planted with a mix of traditional grape varieties and international classics
Tasting note: Portuga is a blend of local grape varieties with dashes of Cabernet Sauvigon and Syrah. That unique combination makes for a wine with earthy richness, ripe black fruit flavours and touches of spice. Gentle barrel ageing adds a lick of toasty oak to the finish.
