Valpolicella is one of Italy’s best known reds, loved for its vibrant red fruit. Crafted by Daniele Accordini at ‘Venetian Winery of the Year 2010’ Cantina Valpolicella Negrar, this is a Ripasso, so there is weight to the wine's dense cherry flavour.

This red with intense cherry and spice notes is from Cantina Negrar, an award winning cellar in the heart of Valpolicella, just a few kilometres from Verona. Star winemaker and trained oenologist Daniele Accordini works closely with small local growers, encouraging the highest standards in the vineyard as well as respect for the natural environment and biodiversity. For this red he has ensured plenty of richness, weight and complexity by fermenting the wine with a portion of partially dried Amarone grapes – a technique known as Ripasso. From a top vintage, the wine has rich cherry flavours with chocolatey notes and an attractive ‘bite’. It pairs beautifully with pasta with tomato and basil sauce, lasagne or a spicy pork casserole.
