A special parcel of 20 year old vintage Champagne is a celebration in itself. It's a great find from a top cellar, the only proviso to its terrific, good value price, is that we aren't to reveal the name of the Champagne house. Instead, you can taste its outstanding class. The grapes are taken from some of the appellations finest sites – the Chardonnay from a trio of top spots in the Côte des Blancs (Chouilly, Vertus and Cramant), the Pinot Noir from Ay, Mareuil sur Ay and Mailly in Montagne de Reims and the Pinot Meunier from Chigny Les Roses. The first fermentation was in barrel, the secondary fermentation of course in bottle, with 12 years ageing on its lees. No surprise it's so long, rich and toasty with layers of complexity.
