This is a special Malbec cuvée from Bernadette and Joseph Arbo's Château Puyanche. The couple started out in very different fields – nursing and retail respectively – but gave it up to devote themselves 100% to the family estate. It lies in up and coming Côtes de Francs, across the Gironde from Margaux, and was founded in the early 20th century by Amand Puyanche. It was his dream to own a vineyard there. He was killed in 1917 in WW1 and his daughter, Amande, was taken in by a prosperous wine family. She had to sell the land, but her son, André, began to buy it back and his daughter, Bernadette, completed the task. She now runs the estate with her husband Joseph Arbo and this is their fine, nearly pure Malbec red. Supple, silky and long.
