Lying between the communes of Margaux and Saint-Julien, Château Beaumont has long been thought of as one of the Haut-Médoc's finest Cru Bourgeois. It was founded very nearly two centuries ago, in 1824, and the beautiful Renaissance buildings completed in 1854. Jump a century and a bit, and a few owners too, and it received a large investment boost in 1986 when the insurance company GMF purchased it. It remains today an impressive Cru Bourgeois estate, with 113 hectares of prime site vineyards. Its Grand Vin draws finesse from its deep gravel soils, all tended sustainably according to Terre Vitis principles. The remarkable 2018 vintage is ripe, supple and complex, with notes of clove and spice from over a year's ageing in barrel, part new.
