Clos des Fous is a wine project run by four 'wine crazy' friends: Chile's top viticulturalist Pedro Parra, credited with finding some of Chile's finest vineyard sites, great winemakers François Massoc and Paco Leyton, and Albert Cussens on the business side. Their winery lies in Maule, but each vineyard is chosen according to the grape. For Arenaria it's a 4-hectare plot in Pucalán, in coastal Aconcagua, just 8km from the sea. This prized vineyard, on ancient soils with marine deposits, is one of the first planted with Pinot Noir clones all from Burgundy, including those from Vosne-Romané and Gevrey Chambertin. This is an exceptional Pinot Noir, aged for 18 months in fine French oak for a layer of spice complexity. Decant early or cellar.
