Deep River Shiraz 2021

McLaren Vale

Australia’s Barossa Shiraz is bold and weighty. For a gorgeous red, turned down just a notch, try Deep River. It's from the slightly cooler, gentle rolling hills of the McLaren Vale, producing here seductive black fruit and liquorice complexity.

Shiraz is the most widely planted grape in the McLaren Vale. Indeed, along with the Barossa, it produces some of Australia’s finest Shiraz. All deliciously ripe black fruits perfectly balanced by a seam of freshness, thanks to cooling coastal winds. We reserve our Deep River label for fabulous one-off parcels our buyer out there, Dan Parrott, gets to hear about and snaps up when the offer is good. This is a knockout red blended from a trio of exceptional McLaren Vale vineyards. Traditionally fermented, this Shiraz is silky with luscious layers of ripe blackberry, dark cherry and juicy plum fruit, with gentle vanilla spice from oak-ageing. The ideal red to pull out for a Sunday roast, a hearty lasagne or a sizzling steak at summer barbecues.

"Smoky black fruit with a twist of spice and an edge of freshness. Top notch from McLaren Vale" Dan Parrott
