Four shining examples from the Rhône Valley in one great value mixed dozen
Northern Rhône Syrah from near Saint-Joseph
Cave Saint Desirat Syrah 2016 is a real treat
for fans of the Northern Rhône’s silky-smooth
Syrahs. It comes from vineyards just outside
Saint-Joseph and offers beautiful pure red
berry fruit with hints of characteristic Northern
Rhône black pepper and spice.
Averys exclusive oak-aged Côtes du Rhône
Averys Fine Côtes du Rhône 2017 is made
exclusively for us by Domaine Martin, a
family-run estate in Plan de Dieu. Aged in old
oak casks, it’s soft and velvety with generous
flavours of ripe summer fruit compote and a
hint of Provençal herbs.
Longstanding favourite from a small, family-run estate
Domaine de la Bastide Côtes du Rhône 2018
is a classic Côtes du Rhône from Vincent
Boyer’s domaine in the village of Visan. Full of
herb-scented dark fruit with a pinch of peppery
spice, it’s perfect with herby lamb cutlets
and roasted vegetables.
Fruit-laden gem from organically-grown grapes
Cuvée des Voyageurs 2017 is an organic red
made at Domaine Saint Sauveur, a beautifully
restored 12th century monastery in the shadow
of Mont Ventoux. With spicy berry fruit and
Mediterranean warmth, it’s delicious with
winter comfort food.
