A “viticultural garden of Eden” (Decanter), Chile produces some of the best value wines in the world. And this 2020 Carmenère, singing with glorious ripe fruit and great complexity, epitomises all that’s great about this fabulous wine country. Carmenère is a variety that fell out of favour in Bordeaux, as it had a tendency to ripen late (and occasionally not at all). However, it ripens to perfection every year in Chile’s winemaking paradise. So much so that today it's regarded as a national treasure. This classic example hails from the vineyards of Luis Felipe Edwards. They're a long established family winery with an enviable reputation for quality. Expect bright, upfront red fruit with spicy, green pepper notes. Ideal with veggie kebabs.
