Salt Bay is a zesty-fresh new wine made by two exceptional winemakers – Anselmo Mendes, supreme in Vinho Verde, and Diogo Lopes, a leading figure of his generation. They have used three native grapes – some of the finest in Portugal's broad ranging portfolio. Viosinho and Alvarinho (the same as Spain's Albarino), two top performers with character and zest, were blended with the freshness of Arinto, plus a dash of Sauvignon Blanc. All were sourced from a mountain vineyard close to the Atlantic, cooled by ocean breezes. It's a super-fresh white with light tropical fruit, finishing with lemony zip, while time on fine lees adds a touch of roundness. Great on its own or with vegetable paella or panfried white fish. More to go round in a magnum.
