Chianti Classico is the oldest and original Chianti zone, situated between Florence and Siena. The history of the Chianti Classico region stretches back to the official edict of 1716 when the Grand Duke Cosimo III de’ Medici clearly defined the territory’s borders. Since then, the Chianti area has extended significantly but the original area is still known as Chianti Classico and the best wines still come from this region.
Castello di Meleto is a stunning property with extensive vineyard holdings within the prestigious Chianti Classico DOCG
This cuvée comes from their San Pietro in Avenano vineyards, which are named after the local church
Made predominantly from Chianti’s famous Sangiovese grape (95%) with just a dash of Merlot (5%) for extra softness
Tasting note:This is a lovely, savoury Chianti Classico with characteristic notes of cherry, wild herbs and earthy hints. It’s aged in barrels for 12 months to give spicy richness and a touch of vanilla oak. Perfect with hearty casseroles and rich pasta dishes.
