Take six bottles of Château Tour Haut Labrit and six bottles of Oude Kaap Reserve Sauvignon Blanc
6x Château Tour Haut Labrit 2018 Bordeaux
Here it is! The first arrival from Bordeaux’s widely acclaimed 2018 vintage. It will be years before the top wines from this long-lived vintage will be ready to drink but while you’re waiting for them to mature, this little claret will give you lots of drinking pleasure.
Château Tour Haut Labrit is made at a small property run by the Fontaneau family in the great value Entre-deux-Mers region. Their vineyards are superbly located in Moulon on the slopes of the Dordogne River, directly opposite Saint-Émilion. Here the family grow predominantly Merlot, which is very ripe and juicy in 2018, together with a touch of Cabernet Franc adding lovely floral freshness.
Colour: Vibrant ruby colour with purple hints showing its youth
Aroma: Ripe, juicy fruit – mulberries, plums and raspberries – with a touch of violet
Taste: Remarkably easy-drinking, soft and supple despite its youth. Lots of fresh bramble fruit flavours with svelte tannins. A real charmer.
Food match: A great ‘all round’ claret, it’s delicious served with cold meats, cheeses and roasts.
6x Oude Kaap Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2019, Western Cape
Oude Kaap Reserve Sauvignon Blanc is named after the Cape of Good Hope, known as ‘Old Cape’ to the Dutch settlers who first made wine in South Africa over 350 years ago. But it was when the French Huguenots settled at the Cape, bringing their vines with them, that South African winemaking really began to flourish. To this day, you can taste the French influence in wines like this one which elegantly straddles the Old World and the New in style.
Colour: Pale lemon, clear and bright.
Aroma: Fresh, mouth-watering tropical fruits with just a hint of stony minerality and fresh green herbs.
Taste:Dry and refreshing with passion fruit, a twist of lemon and a crisp, grassy freshness that echoes France’s star Sauvignons.
Food match: Delicious with grilled fish, smoked salmon or herby chicken dishes.
